Welcome to Deccan!


The First Annual Session of the Deccan History Congress will take place in Bhayander (East), Maharashtra on September 01 – 03, 2025.


The Deccan History Congress is a component of Asiatic Society for Social Science Research, Delhi and provides an important opportunity to discuss current research and scholarship on topics relating to Deccan History within the humanities and social sciences. The Deccan History Congress now operate under the auspices of the Asiatic Society for Social Science Research, a charitable academic association supporting research and teaching concerning Social Science with regard to all periods and fields of study.

Deccan History Congress

The Deccan History Congress is a component of Asiatic Society for Social Science Research (ASSSR). The Deccan History Congress promotes, encourages, and undertakes the scientific study of Deccan region. Founded in 2023 a component at the Asiatic Society for Social Science Research, the Deccan History Congress stands for promoting social science research in Deccan History, Culture & Archaeology. Its primarily aims is to conduct an annual academic gathering in the areas or sessions such as: — Ancient, medieval and modern history of the Deccan; Archaeology in the Deccan; Kingdoms of the Deccan; Political, social, cultural and economic history of the Deccan; Regional history of the Deccan (regions covering Maharashtra, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala); Colonial encounters in the Deccan and impact on local history; Deccan literature and culture in historical context; Sculptures and temple architecture of the Deccan; Contemporary history of the Deccan; and Miscellaneous.

 

Whereas, the parent organization i.e., ASSSR  is an autonomous research body amended as Body of Individuals under the Memorandum of Association constituted on September 02, 2019 and subsequent revision in the Memorandum of Associate which later reconstituted the organization under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The Body retains to continue its functions, aims and objectives of promoting the Social Science research and registration with the existing NITI Aayog Unique ID Number DL/2021/0287154.
